The Bavarian traditional costume is not only used at the Oktoberfest: Aschaffenburg invited again to jump into the water – all participants appeared in dirndls.

Swimming trunks and bikinis were yesterday – in In Aschaffenburg you hop off a one, three or five meter board in a dirndl. And so both men and women dared, nicely wrapped up in bodices, petticoats, dirndl blouses, skirts and aprons, onto the diving tower or board and finally into the water.

The fun, where a jury has to be convinced, took place for the 7th time this year. Depending on the jump and height shown, more or fewer points were awarded. There were two jumps, after which there were prizes for the participants with the best performance.

Those who did not want to wear their own dirndl for fear of damage from the impact could borrow a traditional dress from the organizer.

The idea of Dirndl jumping comes from southern Bavaria. In some places it has been a tradition there for a long time. The first winner in Aschaffenburg in 2015 was a young man with a balloon décolleté. He had convinced the jury with a waving skirt and a backflip.
