Director Nils Tavernier targeted by several complaints

A complaint for rape targeting the director and actor Nils Tavernier was recently filed with the Annecy public prosecutor’s office, the latter told AFP on Friday, confirming information from the magazine The New Obs. According to information from the weekly, the complaint of this 32-year-old woman concerns rape committed in 2012 when she was 19 years old.

The young woman at the origin of the complaint confirmed to AFP the filing with the Annecy public prosecutor’s office, without wanting to comment further immediately. “I’m taking the time to digest all of this before speaking again,” she said.

Two complaints grouped together?

THE New Obs reports another complaint for rape filed in Normandy in February by a second woman, now 45 years old and denouncing acts committed in 1992 when she was 13 years old. Testifying openly in the magazine, the two women say they were upset by the testimonies of sexual violence from actresses Adèle Haenel and especially the more recent one from Judith Godrèche, who convinced them to break the silence.

Niels Tavernier, quoted by the newspaper, said he was “stunned” and had “nothing to reproach himself for”. The director’s entourage, contacted by AFP, did not immediately respond. Born September 1, 1965, he is the son of director Bertrand Tavernier and screenwriter Colo O’Hagan Tavernier. He has to his credit “more than 40 films as a director and documentary maker” according to his website.

The two complaints should be grouped together, to be processed by the same prosecution, which will decide whether to follow up on them or not, according to the weekly.
