Director Lisa Miller on Bavaria and how it deals with underdogs – Bavaria

In 2018 Lisa Miller made her breakthrough as a filmmaker, today she works with the big names in the German film business. A conversation about humor as a survival strategy, growing up in a Swabian village and their aversion to single-family houses.

With her neo-Heimat film “Landrauschen” in 2018, Lisa Miller made it into the top league of German directors. The film, which was made without funding and with the help of her entire hometown, won three awards at the Max Ophüls Prize film festival, which is important for young filmmakers. Her current comedy series “Oh Hell”, in which Mala Emde and Edin Hasanović play the leading roles, won the German television prize last year. In the video interview, the 36-year-old, who now lives in Leipzig but is currently at home with her parents in Bubenhausen, Swabia, explains why humor helps to get along in the country – and why she would never move into a single-family home.
