Strikes continue in Ukraine. Several dozen attacks were once again observed this Tuesday, January 9.

Iran set to deliver new ‘explosive drone’ to Russia

According to Sky News , Iran has developed an explosive new attack drone to fuel Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine. The British media, citing a security source, claims that the Shahed-107, an “explosive and reconnaissance” drone, could have been offered to Russia as part of a market offering a few units of this new machine, estimated at more than 2 million dollars (around 1.8 million euros).

Still according to Sky News, Iran would also be close to delivering ballistic missiles that are more deadly and difficult to shoot down than drones. These would be missiles with a range greater than 300 km. An official in Washington was quoted in US media earlier this month also saying that Iran was preparing to begin supplying short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.

A hundred Russian children evacuated from Belgorod

Nearly a hundred children were evacuated from the Russian town of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, announced the leader of this region regularly targeted by Ukrainian forces. “The first group of children was sent from Belgorod to the Voronezh region,” said on Telegram the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, specifying that “93 children were going to rest there”. He specified that over the next three weeks, these 93 children accompanied by 20 teachers would participate in several educational and leisure activities.

This decision comes a few days after the evacuation of 300 people following the increase in Ukrainian attacks and the announcement of the postponement of the start of the school year to January 19 . The day after an intensive bombardment of Ukraine on December 29 which caused the death of dozens of people, Belgorod was the target of a strike which left 25 dead. This Ukrainian attack is the deadliest against civilians on Russian soil since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine.

In retaliation, Vladimir Putin said he wanted to “intensify” the strikes, his army continuing its massive raids on kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, like on January 2 and 8. In recent days, other Russian regions bordering Ukraine, such as Kursk and Oriol, have been hit by Ukrainian bombings.
