New day of mobilization and blockades of angry farmers this Tuesday, January 24, 2024. Actions are multiplying throughout France: Bordeaux, Toulouse, Strasbourg… After the death of a farmer and her 14-year-old daughter mowed down at a roadblock in Occitania, emotion and anger are at their peak.

In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, blockages will go up a notch this Wednesday with actions by farmers at the entrances to Lyon from 2 p.m. On the A7 south of Lyon, on the Drôme/Isère border, around fifteen demonstrators passed at night on the highway.

The blockages provided for by the FDSEA and Young Farmers this Wednesday in the region:

  • A47/A7 at the Givors interchange. The tractors will first meet in a Uniferme parking lot in Beauvallon then head towards the blockage point.
  • A6/M6 at Limonest. The first meeting is set at the farmers’ house in La Tour-de-Salvagny before converging towards the motorway.
  • A7 near Saint-Rambert-d’Albon
  • A7 from Orange to Montélimar,
  • A49 in Drôme,
  • A71/A75/A89 to Clermont-Ferrand,
  • N102 in Ardèche

11:30 a.m.: Hundreds of actions planned in France, Lyon surrounded from 2 p.m.

The FNSEA, which for the moment excludes blocking Paris, announces hundreds of actions in France in 85 mobilized departments. The agricultural union will also publish “around forty clear demands” today.

In the metropolis of Lyon, two major dams are announced from 2 p.m. : one on the A6 at the western entrance to the town at Limonest and one on the A47 at Givors to the south. This could also cause saturation of the A7 located nearby and already closed further south in Isère and Drôme.

The Isère prefecture announces the blocking of the Chatuzange-le-Goubet toll booth blocked on the A7 and invites you to exit at St Marcellin (north-south direction).

The A7 is cut between Chanas and Bollène in both directions. Load shedding is in place from the Lyon region towards the south of France via the A43, A48, A480 then A51 motorways.

The mobilization of farmers causes the closure of the Valence North toll on the A7 in the Lyon-Marseille direction.

The prefecture announces in Isère a “lowering of the traffic speed by 20km/h on the entire motorway network except the portions already limited to 70km/h” in order to “make traffic flow more smoothly and reduce risks”.

The regional prefecture calls on motorists to “defer all travel” on Wednesday in view of several blockages and demonstrations by angry farmers in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

“Employers are invited to facilitate, without delay, the use of teleworking by their employees,” also asks regional prefect Fabienne Buccio.

7 a.m.: Farmers blocked the A7 all night

Around fifteen tractors blocked the A7 all night near Saint-Rambert-d’Albon. Trucks have been banned from driving on the highway since 6 a.m., the prefecture announced.
