Dinkelsbühl: Two injured in another fire in the old town – Bavaria

Two people were injured in a hotel fire in the old town of Dinkelsbühl in Middle Franconia. They suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to a hospital, a police spokesman said. Around 130 emergency services were involved in the extinguishing operation. They were able to bring the fire under control and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. The hotel was evacuated and the area around the building cordoned off.

The fire broke out in the roof truss area in the morning and caused a lot of smoke to develop. Police asked residents to keep windows and doors closed. One person was rescued from the building by firefighters using a turntable ladder. Two others complained of smoke inhalation. They were taken care of on site.

According to the police, 21 people were accommodated in the hotel. Due to the fire and the damage caused during extinguishing, the hotel can no longer be used for the time being. The guests would be housed elsewhere, it said. The police were initially unable to quantify the extent of the damage. The cause of the fire was also initially unclear. So far there is no evidence of arson, the spokesman said.

There had already been a fire in the old town of Dinkelsbühl around two weeks ago. The tower of the Nördlinger Tor had caught fire. It is part of the historic city fortifications and was built around 1400. Nobody was injured. The police estimated the damage at several hundred thousand euros. The cause of the fire is still unclear here.
