In just a few clicks to the building application, the new passport or citizens’ income? What has long been the norm in other European countries has still not been introduced across the board by the German administration, despite legal requirements. According to the Online Access Act (OZG) from 2017, Germany should actually have digitized 575 administrative services nationwide by the end of 2022. But the target was missed with a bang. Digitization is taking place at a snail’s pace in many German authorities and town halls.
