Dieudonné sentenced for insulting Christian Estrosi



Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala was sentenced to a 5,000 euros fine, 3,000 euros in damages and 2,000 euros in legal costs, for public insult against Christian Estrosi, confirmed at 20 minutes Me Philippe Blanchetier, lawyer for the mayor of Nice.

The decision of the hearing, which was held on June 15 in Nice, was rendered this Friday. The case dates back to a complaint filed in March 2019 by the elected official, with a civil action against the controversial comedian. In a video posted on Facebook, Dieudonné had insulted Christian Estrosi. The mayor of Nice had, a few days earlier, opposed the holding of his show and doing “everything he could” so that it does not take place in Nice, being “outside the values ​​of the Republic “.

In court, Me Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, the lawyer of the polemicist, had defended his client by affirming that one of the insults was “friendly”, indicated the entourage of the mayor. Dieudonné also assured that this page was not his and that the one who appeared during these remarks against the mayor of Nice, was not him.

Four months in prison and an additional 10,000 euros fine

Also this Friday, Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala was tried in two other cases. For “public insult to an official”, in this case Frédéric Potier, former interministerial delegate for the fight against racism, anti-Semitism and anti-LGBT hatred, in a video broadcast in September 2020, the Paris court l ‘ fined 10,000 euros.

Also in the capital, in another case tried for “public insult of an anti-Semitic nature” and “contestation of a crime against humanity” in two other videos dating from May 2020, he was sentenced to four months in prison.
