The online castings for “DSDS” have started – and this time without “stupid age limits”. Juror Dieter Bohlen “fought for a long time” for this.

The online castings for the upcoming 21st season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” have started. There will no longer be an upper age limit from 2024, which means: All people aged 16 and over will be allowed to appear before the jury, which next year will again consist of Pietro Lombardi (31), Dieter Bohlen (69) and two not yet announced musicians -Professionals will exist.

Chief juror Bohlen “fought for years” to change the “stupid age limits,” he explains in a new RTL interview. “Now people over 30 can finally apply. There are definitely people who didn’t have the courage to apply in their twenties. Others may only realize that they have a singing talent when they’re older,” says the pop titan happily.

Dieter Bohlen: “This is a great addition to the show”

Even the 85-year-old grandma can now apply to “DSDS” “and reflect on her entire life – that’s a great addition to the show.”

What still appeals to the music producer about the RTL format after all these years is the variety. “Actually, I only deal with professionals. But with ‘DSDS’ I can work with people who are just starting out. They are often absolute beginners and sometimes don’t know which music titles suit them. Help them on their way I find it particularly exciting to be able to do so.”

“DSDS” starts later than usual in 2024

Bohlen also reveals that “DSDS” will be on television “a little later” next year (will also be broadcast on RTL+). The new episodes usually come out in spring. Before that, according to Bohlen, viewers can still look forward to “Das Supertalent,” where they will see him “earlier.”

In addition to Bohlen, Bruce Darnell (66) will also be on the jury for “Supertalent”. The well-rehearsed “Supertalent” duo has gotten female support on board: “Let’s Dance” professional dancer Ekaterina Leonova (36) and “Let’s Dance” winner Anna Ermakova (23). The 16th season is also scheduled to start in spring 2024; an exact start date is not yet known.
