Dießen: A novel about the great train accident in Aßling – Starnberg

In Dießen, author and musician Simon Viktor is presenting his first work, “Through the World: a novel about a village community that experiences a catastrophe in July 1945 – the worst German train accident of the post-war period.

That was probably the right job for you. Simon Viktor wrote his debut novel about gloomy times of upheaval and the biggest train accident of the German post-war era that was just beginning, the Aßling catastrophe in the Ebersberg district, in a dim, crammed cellar shack. Between children’s clothes size 56, tumble dryers and tricycles. He cleared a shelf and placed his laptop on it. Turned on the battery light and radiator and started typing. “It was more like pit work,” he says and laughs. “All that was missing was the helmet with a headlamp.”
