Died at the age of 25: Regensburg mourns Diawusie

Third division soccer team Jahn Regensburg mourns the loss of his player Agyemang Diawusie. The attacker died at the age of just 25.

“The club is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic event”said Regensburg. There was initially no information about the background; the “terrible news” was received on Tuesday.

“The Jahn family mourns with the bereaved and their thoughts are with Agyemang’s family, relatives, close friends and companions.”the club’s statement said: “Because of the terrible situation and out of respect for his family, we ask that their privacy be respected.”

Diawusie has been playing for SSV Jahn since July, and he last played in the game against 1860 Munich on November 4th. He had also previously played for German U-national teams.

Many stations as a professional

The Berlin native had already played for Regensburg in his youth. He then moved to 1. FC Nürnberg and subsequently made the jump to RB Leipzig. There he signed a professional contract in the summer of 2017 and was loaned out to SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Further stations included FC Ingolstadt and Dynamo Dresden. In July 2022, Diawusie joined the Austrian club SV Ried before the offensive player returned to Germany to SpVgg Bayreuth in January 2023.

A little later he signed a contract in Regensburg until the summer of 2025. Diawusie was used a total of 112 times in the 3rd league, as well as in the 2nd Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, among others. He played one international match for the German U19: under coach Frank Kramer against the Czech Republic on November 13, 2016.
