Investigation opened for “discrimination”

On April 13, the Nice prosecutor’s office opened “on its own initiative” a preliminary investigation into suspicions of “discrimination based on an alleged race or membership of a religion”. It followed the publication of a message attributed to the former director of OGC Nice Julien Fournier, sent to the sports director of Ineos, the group that owns the club. He would explain in particular that Christophe Galtier would have asked him to “take into account the reality of the city of Nice and that we could not have so many blacks and Muslims in the team”.

Words that the current Paris Saint-Germain coach, who said he was “deeply shocked”, has since denied. For his part, Christophe Galtier filed a complaint, on April 21, for “defamation” against Julien Fournier and the journalists Daniel Riolo and Romain Molina, authors of the revelations, also targeted for “endangerment by dissemination of information”. Another complaint for “harassment” and “death threats” was also filed against X, his lawyer had specified.
