Didier Conrad draws Asterix – Culture

His first cartoon was printed when Didier Conrad was just 14 years old. Uderzo once criticized his line, but the Asterix series has been in his hands for ten years now. The latest volume will be published this Thursday.

At the beginning the lines in his ink drawings were too thick. The “Asterix” inventor Albert Uderzo strictly pointed this out to him during his lifetime when looking through his first sketches. Didier Conrad is the first and so far only illustrator who has been allowed to design “Asterix” magazines since Uderzo – and his line is now perfect. “The White Iris”, the 40th volume in the series and the sixth by Conrad, will be published on Thursday.
