Four days after his fourth place in Budapest, the man from Mainz threw 85.04 meters in the crowded meeting. Weber had still provided the best German result at the World Cup, for the first time a German selection had not won a medal.

World Championship third Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic won with 85.86 meters ahead of world champion and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra. The Indian managed 85.71 meters. Weber still had a chance of winning with the last throw, but had to be satisfied with 84.92 meters.

Hartmann seventh in Lyle’s win

Three-time world champion Noah Lyles won the 200 meters in 19.80 seconds. The German record holder Joshua Hartmann, who had disappointed with the lead-out at the World Cup, finished seventh in 20.43 seconds.

After a strong fifth place in Hungary, high jumper Tobias Potye only came in ninth this time. For the EM second from Munich it was only enough to jump 2.20 meters. Both Weber and Potye will start at the traditional Istaf athletics meeting in Berlin this Sunday. Gina Lückenkemper will not be there, the European sprint champion ended her season prematurely due to a virus infection.

Like in Budapest, pole vault star Armand Duplantis from Sweden tried three times in vain to break the world record height of 6.23 meters. He had already won the competition with 6.00 meters.
