A mother discovers bruises on her baby’s arms and legs. After taking a blood sample, a doctor finds out what the boy has – as the first in the family.

The parents of a little boy notice bruises on his body: first on the arm, on the thigh, and later on both legs. The parents assume bruises from crawling. But the bruises keep coming back. The parents then go to the pediatrician.
The pediatrician takes blood to rule out leukemia. She interviews the parents intensively and asks questions about the child’s behavior in order to rule out domestic violence. She quickly ruled this out, but the blood values remain abnormal: A coagulation parameter is prolonged.
