Diagnosis of aphasia: Bruce Willis ends his acting career

Hollywood action star Bruce Willis retires from acting due to illness. The 67-year-old was diagnosed with what is known as aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities, his family said on Wednesday. Willis is best known from the “Die Hard” films and has long been one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Willis has also appeared in films such as “Pulp Fiction”, “The Fifth Element”, “Armageddon” and “The Sixth Sense”.

The star was recently diagnosed with aphasia

His daughter Rumer Willis wrote on Instagram: “As a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities. As a result, and after careful consideration, Bruce is retiring from his career back that meant so much to him.” Aphasia is a speech disorder that can result from a stroke.

“This is a truly challenging time for our family and we are so grateful for your continued love, compassion and support,” Rumer said. “We’re moving through this as a strong family unit and wanted to include his fans because we know how much he means to you as you mean to him.”

The Instagram post was signed by Rumer and Willis’ daughters Scout, Mabel, Evelyn and Tallulah, as well as his wife Emma Heming-Willis and ex-wife Demi Moore.

Bruce Willis was born in Germany

Born in 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, as the son of a US soldier and his German wife, Willis had worked as an actor since the 1970s and became famous primarily with action films. Among other things, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his achievements in the industry. Willis was married to actress Demi Moore from 1987 to 2000 and they have daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. Willis has been married to model Emma Heming since 2009 and the couple have two daughters.
