Even today, in retrospect, it still seems “brutal” to her. “You can’t imagine this strict everyday life, completely inflexible,” says Susanne Steger. “We were in Sweden at a youth camp, everyone did something in the evening, but I really had to eat yoghurt at 9:30.” Why can’t I live like the others? Why did I get this damned disease? And where do you get yogurt in Sweden in the evenings? These are existential questions for a 15-year-old.
