DHDL: How good is the Miwiam nail file?

The 36-year-old graduate engineer for physical technology from Wiesbaden, who moved to Germany from the former Yugoslavia as a child, had to finance his studies with part-time jobs. He is now working on optimizing smoke detectors – and as luck would have it, a new business idea shot through his head: nail files made of metal mesh. The idea didn’t come to him while he was sleeping, but when he accidentally but very precisely smoothed his fingernail with a small metal plate made of stainless steel. He wanted to take advantage of this effect and invented a new type of nail file made from a metal grid structure: the miwiam.

The file consists of two zones: a coarse one for shortening the nails and a fine one for a smooth finish. Due to the specially developed honeycomb structure, the nail layers should be cut off with microscopic precision and not rasped off like with an ordinary file. According to Petrovic, this no longer causes cracks in the nail, as it would finish smoothly and cleanly. However, since he still lacks the necessary beauty expertise to successfully market his product, he applied to “The Lion’s Den”. Of the star tested the nail file, you can see the result in our photo gallery.
