Cup round of 16 drawn |
Unpleasant away lot for Bayern
16 teams are still fighting for the DFB Cup. Now the lots for the round of 16 have been drawn.
Bayern have to play away at Mainz 05. Mainz could reach the quarter-finals for the first time in five years. But against Bayern they are clear outsiders. BVB, on the other hand, gets a district derby. At VfL Bochum, the yellow and black have to compete. There is also another explosive derby: Eintracht Frankfurt receives Darmstadt 98!
For the first time, the round of 16 will not be held in one week, but split up like in the Champions League. The four dates are: January 31st, February 1st, February 7th and February 8th.
Defending champion RB Leipzig plays against TSG from Hoffenheim. There is another Bundesliga duel between the current league leaders Union Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg. Last year’s finalist SC Freiburg has to go to the “Baden duel” at SV Sandhausen. Stuttgart plays away at SC Paderborn. Nuremberg also plays against Fortuna Düsseldorf.

During the week there was still a lot of kicking in the 2nd round. When will it continue?
The round of 16 will not take place until the new year – and with a premiere! For the first time, the game dates are broken up into two weeks.
The game will be played on January 31st, February 1st, February 7th and 8th, 2023!
