DFB: Nike or Adidas? Regardless, it’s just a jersey – opinion

The DFB is changing supplier – and the excitement is great. Sure, the football officials behaved extremely clumsily. But: The country’s economic future is not in danger.

It’s always astonishing the excitement potential inherent in football. The German Football Association (DFB) decides to change supplier from Adidas to Nike – and a storm of indignation immediately breaks out in the country. Economics Minister Robert Habeck speaks out and says that the three stripes on the national players’ jerseys are “a piece of German identity.” And adds: “I would have liked a bit more local patriotism.” The Green politician apparently wants to strike a chord with the fans above all else.
