In the morning the sky in Saarbrücken is gray, but it is not raining. There is a lot to suggest that the cup game between Saarbrücken and Mönchengladbach can be rescheduled.

A few hours before the quarterfinals DFB Cup between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Borussia Mönchengladbach (8.30 p.m./ZDF and Sky) the pitch in the Ludwigsparkstadion is to be inspected again. In some places it needs to be repaired and completely mowed.

According to the latest status, the game, which had to be canceled at short notice at the beginning of February because constant rain made the pitch unplayable, can now take place. Representatives of the Saarland state capital, the German Football Association (DFB) and the FCS had checked the condition of the pitch the day before and given the green light.

The lawn had coped well with the unexpectedly large amount of rain the night before, according to a statement from the city on Monday. The weather also seems to be helping at the moment: in Saarland the sky was gray on Tuesday morning, but it remained dry.

The arrival of fans to the catch-up game, especially Borussia supporters from Mönchengladbach, around 300 kilometers away, is also made more difficult by the warning strike by the train drivers’ union GDL. This also started in Saarland early on Tuesday morning.
