Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel looks to the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup with great respect for Freiburg coach Christian Streich.

“It’s difficult against Christian not to coach emotionally because he coaches emotionally,” said Tuchel. He didn’t want to “let the butter be taken off his bread,” said the 49-year-old before FC Bayern Munich’s cup match against SC Freiburg on Tuesday (8:45 p.m. / ARD and Sky). Streich has achieved absolute legend status with the Bundesliga club in Freiburg, said Tuchel. “He basically shaped the club like probably no one before.”

In the showdown with the Sport-Club, the Bayern coach will most likely be able to fall back on attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who missed training on Monday morning because of a punch. “It was a precautionary measure,” noted Tuchel. National player Jamal Musiala, who was back on the pitch for the first time after tearing a muscle fiber in the 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, could “play at least one half,” explained Tuchel. “That’s the recommendation.”
