National soccer player Serge Gnabry will be out for several weeks. The 28-year-old suffered a fracture of his left forearm during FC Bayern’s 4-0 win in the first round of the DFB Cup against third division club Preußen Münster.

Coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed this on Sky broadcaster. Gnabry will therefore also be out of the national team’s trip to the USA in October for the new national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s first international matches.

His latest status is that Gnabry should undergo surgery this Wednesday, said Tuchel. “Then it will take a few weeks,” said the Bayern coach: “It’s extremely bitter, especially for him personally, but also for us. He’s simply an important player.”

Gnabry collided with Münster goalkeeper Johannes Schenk in the fourth minute of the game. He continued to play briefly but was then substituted. Later he sat on the bench in the team anorak.
