For the sixth time in a row, Freiburg conceded 0-1 and lost for the fourth time. Midfielder Eggestein demands a clear improvement in performance against Gladbach.

Trainer Christian Streich sees more difficult weeks ahead for SC Freiburg. And they are likely to become even more difficult if the Bundesliga team keeps going 0-1.

“It’s not easy to chase after these deficits,” said Streich after Baden’s 1:3 (0:2) defeat in the second DFB Cup round against SC Paderborn. In the sixth competitive game in a row, Freiburg fell behind – they lost for the fourth time.

“We weren’t good enough in all respects. We didn’t defend well enough, made a lot of simple mistakes and weren’t compelling enough going forward,” analyzed Maximilian Eggestein, who scored the only goal for the hosts against the second division team. Against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) we have to “pull ourselves together,” demanded the midfielder. After all, the sports club is still “doing well” in two competitions, the league and the Europa League.

It would be important for Freiburg to take the lead again. Otherwise, the effort remains “enormous,” as Coach Streich said.
