The DFB has announced the premiums for the World Cup in Qatar. For the World Cup title, the national players would earn 400,000 euros per capita.

The DFB announced the bonus payment for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar on Sunday. After negotiations with representatives of the national team, an agreement was reached for a maximum of 18.2 million euros.

The DFB announced on Sunday that the negotiations on the bonuses were being held on the fringes of the international match against Hungary.

Present were Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gündogan, Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich as team representatives, as well as Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke and Holger Blask, Managing Directors of DFB GmbH und Co. KG. The talks were chaired by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.

The following premiums were negotiated (payout per capita):

  • 50,000 euros for the group win
  • 100,000 euros for reaching the quarterfinals
  • 150,000 euros for reaching the semifinals
  • 200,000 euros for third place
  • 250,000 euros for second place
  • 400,000 euros for the world title

In the best-case scenario, each player will receive €700,000 in bonuses at the World Cup. Since national coach Hansi Flick is allowed to nominate 26 players for the tournament in Qatar, this would result in a total payment of 18.2 million euros with maximum utilization of the squad and maximum payment of bonuses.

“We held the intensive discussion in a good and constructive atmosphere. In the end, we reached an acceptable solution for everyone involved,” explained President Neuendorf.

For comparison: for second place at this year’s European Championship, the DFB players only collected 30,000 euros; the title would have earned the national team 60,000 euros.
