Devastated last summer by a fire, the Montagnette massif closed until 2024

Almost a year after the events, the situation remains worrying. In a press release, the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture announced that it had issued an order on Tuesday prohibiting access to the Montagnette massif until June 30, 2024, i.e. almost two years after the terrible fire which ravaged the region. On July 14, 2022, the flames had ravaged more than 1,600 hectares south of Avignon.

The prefecture justifies this exceptional decision by “its current vulnerability”, the “risks of falling trees, torrential risks and landslides in the event of heavy rains and the need to continue major work to secure access to this massive. »
