There is a theoretical train timetable in Bavaria and an actual one. For example, the theoretical train timetable states that there is a train from Regensburg to Munich at least every hour. Or from Nuremberg to Landshut. Or from Plattling to Passau. Or from Ingolstadt to somewhere.
In reality, however, both the frequency of trains and the number of wagons actually running are in decline.
It is all the more surprising that there are places in Bavaria where excessive train frequency is a problem that Deutsche Bahn specifically warns about. as the Central Bavarian newspaper reported. “This level crossing may remain closed for up to 20 minutes due to numerous train journeys,” says a Deutsche Bahn sign in front of a gated level crossing near Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate. And further: “If you are in a hurry, please take another route to your destination.” This is an original quote. Apparently the railway is now saving not only on timing, but also on punctuation.
Otherwise, the railway could (should?) expand this concept of deterrence. She already does that to some extent. Recently at Regensburg Central Station, an estimated 80 gasping train travelers were moving from platform one to platform eight for the third time when they saw an astonishing message on the train display: “The train only has two carriages and is completely full! Please use another one Travel opportunity!” flashed past in ticker tape that ran faster than any regional express.
A completely empty and very long train, including a Czech dining car, then arrived just 40 minutes late. That could only mean one thing: electrical outlets! Euphoria spread, the crowd stormed the train, although it was not yet clear whether it was going to Munich or to a Czech town with lots of special characters.
