Despite the legalization of cannabis, joints should be taboo at German train stations – Deutsche Bahn is adjusting its house rules accordingly.
“Derived from the legal ban on cannabis consumption during the day in pedestrian zones or around schools and playgrounds, we want to protect our travelers, especially children and young people, at our train stations. That’s why we will generally prohibit the consumption of cannabis in our train stations. This fits “We will adapt our house rules as soon as possible,” said a railway spokeswoman Picture on Sunday.
The new house rules should be ready and legally valid in around four weeks. From June onwards, the railway will be pursuing violations; before that, railway employees would ask travelers with “friendly requests and advice” to refrain from consuming cannabis.
This also applies to the smoking areas that exist at some train stations, as the railway confirmed to the German Press Agency. There is already a general ban on smoking at German train stations, with the exception of only designated areas. Consuming cannabis should also be prohibited there.
