Again and again, train passengers try to keep the seat next to them free by reserving an additional seat. On a full train, this can quickly become a problem. That is why Deutsche Bahn is now commenting on the supposed trick.

Reserve two seats and only sit in one? Does that actually work? Deutsche Bahn has a clear message: No, it doesn’t work. As the company announced on Instagram: “A seat reservation expires after 15 minutes if the seat is not taken. And since you can’t sit in two seats at the same time, the seat is released for other travelers after 15 minutes.” So the seat reservation trick doesn’t work.

Deutsche Bahn asks customers about “one compartment”

For those who would like to travel alone, there may also be good news. The railway recently asked its customers about a first-class compartment for individuals. Say compartments for one alone. So far, the “private 1-seater room” is just an idea, but who knows, maybe the dream of a lonely train journey will come true after all.
