Wrexham’s star forward Paul Mullin has given the League Two club a scare during its preseason match against a wildly inexperienced Manchester United — departing for hospital.

The ESPN broadcast between the two UK clubs revealed the goal scorer was going to be officially checked out at a San Diego hospital after the brutal collision with United keeper Nathan Bishop.

Both were attempting to reach the ball first at the edge of the penalty area before Bishop bumped into Mullin’s kidney region.

The 28-year-old rolled in agony before Wrexham medics came to his aid. Naturally, he was substituted from the game.

Scarily, he stayed down for around eight minutes – and ultimately sat back up after using an oxygen mask.

While the extent of the injury is not yet known, there is concern as to whether Mullin will be fit for the club’s League Two opener vs. MK Dons on August 5.

Surprisingly, Bishop was booed by the Wrexham fans in attendance at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

The 23-year-old, who signed with the Red Devils from Southend United in 2020, received a yellow card for his part in the coming together.

More to come…
