Tottenham news: Spurs’ latest target has already ridiculed Arsenal over lack of trophies | Football | Sport

Tottenham target Gift Orban has already endeared himself to fans by launching a scathing attack on Arsenal. The talented young striker appears to have ruined any prospect of a future association with the Gunners, despite the fact he could soon have his pick of top European clubs.

Orban arrived in Europe two years ago and immediately stamped his authority on Norwegian football. Subsequently taking the step up to the Belgian Pro League in his stride, the 21-year-old hit a remarkable 20 goals in 22 matches for Gent last season.

Back in March, Orban made a splash in the UEFA Europa Conference League by scoring an astonishing three-minute hat-trick against Istanbul Basaksehir. According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested.

Spurs fans will demand a striker that gets their juices flowing, given that they may be tasked with replacing club captain Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich chiefs are thought to be confident of thrashing out a deal with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, despite claims that they left Monday’s London meeting without an agreement.

Orban’s prior comments on Spurs’ bitter rivals, Arsenal, should see supporters warm to him quickly if he moves to England. “I dream about the Premier League and about Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool,” the youngster told Het Nieuwsblad back in May.

The Welsh international shone last campaign after stepping up to Premier League level with the Tricky Trees. A haul of 10 goals in all competitions pales in comparison to Kane’s 32, but Postecoglou also has other tricks up his sleeve.

Richarlison, who signed for Spurs last summer, is expected to shoulder some of the attacking burden if Kane departs. Son Heung-min can also play centrally, despite having featured out wide for the past few seasons.
