Scans of an ancient Egyptian child mummy interred in a tomb 2,000 years ago have revealed that the 2.5–4-year-old was buried with a bandaged, pus-filled, leg wound.
The preserved individual has the first-known example of an original ancient Egyptian dressing, and was found in the ‘Tomb of Aline’ at Hawara, Egypt, in 1892.

Amenhotep I — the second ruler of Egypt’s 18th Dynasty — is thought to have died around 1506–1504 BCE, at which point he was painstakingly preserved.
Unlike all the other royal mummies unearthed in the 19th and 20th centuries, that of Amenhotep I has never been unwrapped by modern Egyptologists.
