An Anglo-Saxon burial ground containing 141 individuals along with grooming items including ear wax removers and a cosmetic tube that could have contained eyeliner has been unearthed by archaeologists working on the HS2 high-speed rail project in Buckinghamshire.
In total, 141 individuals – men, women and children – dating from the fifth and sixth centuries AD were found near the market town of Wendover, making it one the largest Anglo-Saxon burial grounds ever uncovered in Britain.
