Welcome to our live blog of what has been dubbed ‘the high society wedding of the year’, as the Duke of Westminster marries his bride Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral today, with the cream of aristocracy, royals and Cestrians watching on. We’ll be following every moment of the couple’s big day as it happens…
As the Just Stop Oil commotion calms, more guests – including the mother of the groom – head to the reception
The Duke of Westminster’s mother, Natalia Grosvenor, looks a vibrant vision in pink.
The 65-year-old socialite and philanthropist, who lost her husband Gerald in 2016, is wearing a striking fuschia trouser suit with co-ordinating fascinator in varying shades of pink for her only son’s big day.
The Duchess of Westminster has four children with her late husband: Tamara, Hugh, Viola and Edwina.
Police escort apparent Just Stop Oil protestors away from the cathedral
Chester Police have moved quickly to remove the apparent culprits behind the orange smoke from the scene. Two silver-haired Just Stop Oil protesters, 73 and 69, let off a fire extinguisher containing orange powder paint in the direction of the wedding party just as guests emerged from the cathedral.
According to Just Stop Oil, the two women are Polly, 73, a care worker from Norfolk, and Sheila, 69, a former NHS nurse from Bristol.
Curious guests, including TV star Dan Snow, lean to get a closer look at orange ‘protest flare’

Unruly wedding train, part two: Bridesmaid struggles to keep the new Duchess of Westminster’s gown and veil from billowing in the wind
The bride’s custom-made Emma Victoria Payne gown featuring floral motifs is once again causing a minor headache for the new Duchess of Westminster’s bridesmaid and the dress designer herself (seen wearing purple below).
The free-spirited couture billows up every time a bit of breeze arrives…but thankfully the newlyweds appear to be seeing the funny side.
A smile from Prince William – who attended his close friend Hugh ‘Hughie’ Grosvenor’s nuptials solo
Prince William is seen grinning broadly as he leaves the ceremony of his close pal, clutching an order of service in his hand.
The Prince of Wales is wearing a smart morning suit with a blue tie and pin for the service, with a single white rose pinned to his lapel.
The heir to the throne, attending the wedding without the Princess of Wales, who’s still recovering from treatment from cancer, and his three children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte, is chatting to fellow guests in the Cheshire sunshine.
Guests – including Princess Eugenie – make their way out of Chester Cathedral to cheers from well-wishers waiting outside

It’s thought the royal, 34, will now join the newlyweds at a private reception at Eaton Hall, the couple’s home – which is just a 15-minute drive away by car…
Sealed with a kiss! Introducing the new Duke and Duchess of Westminster
The newlyweds have just emerged from Chester Cathedral as husband and wife…aaah!
The Duke of Westminster and his new bride share a kiss after taking their vows and look relaxed and thrilled as they wave to the crowds.
The couple’s trio of young bridesmaids are following closely behind.
Who’s officiating the marriage of the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson today?
As the couple say their vows in ancient Chester Cathedral, the man tasked with pronouncing them man and wife is the Dean of Chester, the Very Revd Dr Tim Stratford (pictured left below).
He will lead and officiate the wedding service while the Bishop of Chester, the Right Revd Mark Tanner, (pictured right) will preach. And today’s prayers are being led by the Revd Canon Rosie Woodall.
A little more detail on Princess Eugenie’s wedding attire…
While the ceremony is underway, let’s take another look at Princess Eugenie’s outfit.
The King’s niece, 34, looked radiant in an olive pleated dress as she arrived earlier at Chester Cathedral.
The mother-of-two – daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York – teamed her stunning V-neck dress with a chic cream fascinator as she arrived at the nuptials with a friend.
Bride-and-groom’s trio of bridesmaids are pictured in simple white gowns and comfy-looking black ballet pumps with bows
Olivia Henson’s bridesmaids looked adorable as they prepared to follow the bride into the cathedral. The three girls wore pretty white floral headbands, simple white gowns to the knee – without tights – and pairs of black velour ballet pumps adorned with bows. Each carried a simple wildflower posy too.
Who’s singing Olivia down the aisle to meet her groom? Chester Cathedral Choir, which includes some very talented teen vocalists
As the ceremony gets underway, a trio of teenage choristers are among those performing at the Duke of Westminster’s wedding to Olivia Henson.
Talented vocalists Grace Crook, Isla Mills and Cassie Lounds, who all attend The Queen’s School in Chester, spoke earlier this week of their delight at singing for the happy couple – and guests such as Prince William, saying they were ‘thrilled’ at the opportunity, if not a little nervous.
A quick glance back, and a wave…and Olivia Henson is on her way up the aisle
While there’s nothing low-key about the stunning Emma Victoria Payne bridal gown Olivia is wearing…the bride appears to take a moment to soak up her big day.
Before she turns and heads down the aisle – and her new life as the Duchess of Westminster – she takes a moment to acknowledge the crowds who’ve turned out to enjoy the couple’s big day. This certainly feels like a royal wedding in all but name.
More detail on the dress: Gown is by Emma Victoria Payne – and the bride is wearing a very special tiara
The Duke of Westminster’s bride is wearing a custom-made Emma Victoria Payne gown featuring floral motifs from her ancestor’s veil and the Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara for today’s service.
The tiara has been in the Grosvenor family since its creation in 1906, while the bride’s stunning dress featured floral motifs and edgings from Olivia’s great great grandmother’s veil from around 1880.
A breeze almost wreaks havoc – as the bride takes the arm of her father to enter the cathedral
The tempermental English weather sees the bride-to-be’s train billow wildly as she prepares to enter the cathedral…but disaster is quickly averted, and Olivia Henson’s father Rupert Henson takes his daughter’s arm to walk her down the aisle…
