Andy Murray outvoted as tennis stars back Wimbledon ace to play Ken in Barbie movie | Tennis | Sport

Andy Murray was outvoted when his fellow tennis stars were asked who in the sport should play Ken in the Barbie movie. Murray crashed out of the Citi Open at the hands of American Taylor Fritz in the last-16 and was also snubbed by his tennis rivals when discussing the Barbie movie.

The Citi Open’s social media channel asked competitors at the tournament who they would cast as Ken in the Barbie movie. Murray replied that former Wimbledon finalist and world No 40 Matteo Berrettini would be perfect for the role.

American Chris Eubanks ignored Murray’s calls, instead choosing Casper Ruud and he was supported by two further tennis stars. Ruud was the overwhelming choice.

World No 4, Ruud has lost three Grand Slam finals including this season’s French Open – when he was beaten to Novak Djokovic. The 24-year-old Norwegian has had less success at Wimbledon reaching the second round in both of the last two years.

Women tennis stars were more divided when asked who in the sport would be best player to be cast as Barbie. Budding American star Coco Gauff replied: “If you watch the movie they say that Margot Robbie is the stereotypical Barbie.

“So the stereotypical Babie, I would go with Paula Badosa, she has the Barbie look.” Gauff and Elena Rybakina also received votes along with Sloane Stephens. Fellow American Jessica Pegula said that Greek player Maria Sakkari would be perfect in the Hollywood movie.
