Despite sanctions: Bavarian beer for Russia – economy

Six months after the start of the war in Ukraine, Russian consumers are still not feeling the full impact of Western sanctions and boycotts: Last but not least, popular Munich beers such as Franziskaner, Löwenbräu and Spaten continue to flow. Not only these three brands are on the shelves of better supermarkets in Moscow, but also many others, including Belgian Leffe beer. In some restaurants you can find Spaten from the barrel on the menu, in shops the 0.45 liter can costs the equivalent of three euros these days – not a cheap treat.
