Concern is growing in view of the spread of new Corona variants from South Africa. The jungle camp is still sticking to its plans.

The private broadcaster RTL is still planning to use South Africa as the location for its next jungle camp in 2022. A spokesman said on Friday on request: “For the jungle camp, plans are still being made with South Africa, but of course under observation of current developments.”

The newspaper “Bild” reported on it. A newly discovered coronavirus variant (B.1.1.529) that is spreading in South Africa is currently in focus.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) said on Friday: “This newly discovered variant worries us, so we are acting proactively and early on. The last thing we are missing now is a new variant that has been introduced and that causes even more problems. ” Germany will declare South Africa a virus variant area because of the newly emerging coronavirus variant. The regulation will come into force on Saturday night, and airlines will then only be allowed to transport German citizens to Germany.

The RTL reality show is scheduled to start in early 2022. This year the station broadcast a replacement show from Hürth near Cologne because of the pandemic. RTL wants for the 15th season of “I’m a star – get me out of here!” Relocated the location to South Africa because the classic in Australia is out of the question because of the corona pandemic.
