Despite huge success, the Lucia illumination show will not return

The news will upset more than one. Launched in 2014, the Lucia illumination show which attracted crowds will no longer return to illuminate the facade of Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Nantes, as it did every two years at Christmas time.

The show “bows out after eight years of artistic magic and 1.5 million enchanted spectators”, announced this Thursday on Instagram the naturalist painter Alain Thomas, whose colorful works inspired this show. Performed elsewhere in Pays-de-la-Loire in recent years, Lucia will not return to Angers, Laval or Le Mans either.

The disappointed will soon be able to console themselves since Alain Thomas does not seem to have said his last word. The painter announces “a new museum, cultural and tourist project with the creation of a future permanent museum anchored in the Great West, the city and location of which will be known at the beginning of 2024”.
