Désirée Nick and Anouschka Renzi finally put an end to their years of catfighting. In an interview, the two find conciliatory words.

There was a catfight between Désirée Nick (65) and Anouschka Renzi (57) for almost 20 years – including public insults and an injunction. Now the two German TV personalities have apparently settled their dispute. In a double interview with “Bild am Sonntag” explain how the debate came about.

Nick didn’t want to wait any longer for a reconciliation: “We both don’t have the time at our age. Besides, I didn’t want to face the future with an open wound that was still gaping somewhere.” Renzi had been invited to the entertainer’s podcast several times, but had repeatedly canceled out of “afraid of Désirée’s temperament”. “But at some point I decided we needed to talk,” the actress said.

Dispute had a negative impact on Renzi’s career

From Nick’s point of view, this was “a wise decision” and she credits Renzi for this. “After all, we don’t have any capital crimes to deal with, it was just a catfight.” However, that catfight was tough and even resulted in Renzi suing Nick for an injunction after the entertainer made fun of Renzi in front of the cameras. Nick understood the lawsuit as an “attack on her art”. At the time, she would have preferred to settle the dispute on the phone or over a coffee. “It would have taken a gesture. Instead, injunctions landed on my desk,” recalls Nick.

Renzi emphasizes that the catfight at the time also had a negative impact on her career. “At the time, I was involved in a very successful, very conservative series (“Forsthaus Falkenau”, editor’s note). When I was in the newspapers every day because of our mud fight, I was written out because ZDF and a cat war were not fit together permanently.” For Nick, however, Renzi has always been a “scandal noodle”: “I knew you from the media, from ‘Playboy’ – and not just because of our argument.”

Friendship instead of enmity?

After 18 years on the run from Nick and her camera team, Renzi today finds conciliatory words about the TV artist with the pointed tongue. “We are both very empathetic. And Désirée is even more empathetic than I thought,” says Renzi. Nick also clarifies: “We can’t fight anymore. We’ve fought to the point of excess. It can’t get any worse.” In terms of friendship, the two are now “taking it easy”.
