A bathroom suitable for children: what to think about?
Arranging the bathroom for children means above all thinking about creating a secure space! We therefore first take care of basic precautions in order to prevent domestic accidents.
We start with appropriate storage, to place all dangerous objects and products away from the hands of children, whether they are:
- Cutting edges – razors or scissors, etc. ;
- Brittle – perfume bottles, standing mirror, etc. ;
- Toxic – primarily drugs.
For the little ones, keep away from the little ones, objects that can cause suffocation. We will then limit the risk of falls, on the floor or in the shower, by using mats. Finally, beware of the risks associated with electricity! So we obviously secure the sockets, and we avoid fixtures or auxiliary radiators.
If we do not skimp on the safety of the little ones in the bathroom, it is common to forget that it is hardly suitable for them. For them, everything is immense, sometimes a little cold: how can one be surprised, in these conditions, that they are sulking bath time? In short ! The first thing to do to arrange a suitable bathroom is to make the space cozy, cheerful… and practical for the little ones!
A colorful bathroom
Canon, the japandi bathroom! However, the youngest can be insensitive to this peaceful space, certainly, but a little too wise for them. To design a bathroom suitable for children, we therefore first think of choosing a color palette more appropriate to their taste!
The easiest way to reconcile the tastes of young and old is to fall for a Scandinavian-inspired decor, which gives pride of place to soft and pastel shades. Sky blue, mint green or light pink add a touch of color to the decor, while creating a peaceful atmosphere.
If the bias is riskier, because it is easier to get bored of it, dynamic colors are another very fun option! In such a colorful bathroom, it’s easy to start the day on the right foot! The trick, if you dare the total look, is to avoid overbidding: a wild palette, yes, but avoiding patterns!
Calmer, cool colors leave more room for fantasy: we dare to use polka dots or stripes. And to warm up the atmosphere, we fall for a touch of yellow, a sunny color that goes as wonderfully with blue as with green.
No need to completely revamp your white bathroom, to adapt it to the little ones! The choice of a shower curtain, towels and colorful accessories will be enough to bring a note of cheerfulness to the room.
A well-equipped bathroom
Storage, accessories and sanitary facilities… everything is thought out as a priority for adults. To create a friendly space for children, we therefore think above all to put everything to their size… and to their taste!
Zen and yet colorful, this bathroom has a double sink, one of which is offset to be at child’s height. Not only is it smart, but the choice of hanging furniture allows you to create an original asymmetrical decor, although it remains very refined. Canon!
If you have enough room to double the elements, bet on miniature equipment: toilets and basins are available in mini versions, more suited to the morphology and tastes of children.
No doubt: it’s easier to take care of yourself when you see each other! We therefore think of hanging the mirror at the height of the little ones. Especially since it boosts the brightness. Here, we opted for a pretty collection of round mirrors, which give the impression of bubbling in an aquarium.
An essential piece at home, the mirror comes in an incredible palette of styles and colors. So, why not fall for a model with a playful design?
In terms of accessories, we also think of playful pieces. An hourglass to flip to time brushing teeth helps to reconcile the youngest with what they sometimes consider to be a chore!
What if you cut the bathroom in half, to create a corner for children and another for parents? Don’t panic: you don’t have to fit a partition to have two bathrooms in one! You just have to have fun with the colors and materials. Here, we have associated hexagonal tiles and flooring: trendy, and very effective!
Smart storage
The little ones fall for bath toys, the older ones leave their clothes lying around on the floor… before losing their minds, opt for suitable storage!
