Demonstrations against right-wing extremism: I have several opinions

What a democratic magic of the moment: German society is not divided on perhaps the most important issue of the moment. A majority is finally defending itself against right-wing extremism.

More than two million people have taken to the streets since Corrective revealed the disgusting deportation plans of German right-wing extremists. Has the uprising of decent people, which the then SPD Chancellor Gerhard Schröder called for in 2000, broken out now? The term was chosen as a counterpoint to the ignorance of the Kohl era, in which right-wing extremist violence was often dismissed as an unfortunate fringe phenomenon. But actually the word “uprising” doesn’t really fit.
