The traffic light budget dispute could have serious consequences for initiatives against anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism – the law that could strengthen them is still being fought over.
Basically, it doesn’t seem like a bad time for a law to promote democracy, regardless of its design. Right-wing extremism, anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim sentiment are increasing in the country, society appears, at least at first glance, to be increasingly polarized and pluralistic, liberal democracy is not a given everywhere.
