Democracy in danger? Two major rallies on Saturday in Munich – Munich

The cabaret artist Monika Gruber has given up her plan to mobilize opponents of the Berlin traffic light government on Munich’s Theresienwiese. And yet, after almost three weeks, their controversial Erdinger rally with 13,000 participants is still making waves that reach as far as Munich. Under the slogan “Austrumpt”, a broad alliance came together to take to the streets on Saturday for “cohesion and the future – instead of stepping backwards and shifting to the right” (Odeonsplatz, 2 p.m.). On the other hand, a lone fighter who has not yet made a political appearance takes up Gruber’s idea: he not only wants to demonstrate on the Theresienwiese (11 a.m.) against the heating law, but also against the abolition of democracy that he fears.
