During a flight from Italy to the USA it came on a Delta Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence. Eleven passengers and crew were taken to a hospital after landing at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The care team has been mobilized to take care of the passengers on the flight, a spokesman for US airline Delta said. The priority is “the customers and the crew members who have suffered injuries.”

How many injuries there were among the 151 passengers and 14 crew members of the flight coming from Milan was initially unclear, as reported by the AFP news agency. No information was given about the nature of the injuries suffered by the eleven people who had been hospitalized.

Delta Airlines plane did not experience turbulence from hurricanes

Neither the airline nor the US Federal Aviation Administration attributed the turbulence to hurricanes. Hurricane Idalia is expected to hit Florida early Wednesday and Hurricane Franklin is currently raging in the Atlantic.

According to scientists, as a result of climate change, so-called clear air turbulence, which occurs without bad weather and is very difficult to predict, is becoming more common.
