A shot is fired at a driver in Delmenhorst. But there is apparently no longer any suspicion against a man who was caught shortly after the crime.

After the shot at a moving car in Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, the urgent suspicion against a 41-year-old was not confirmed. The man was released from police custody early Saturday evening, police said. “The search for those responsible and the investigation into the background to the crime are ongoing.”

An unknown person fired a shot at a moving car in Delmenhorst on Friday, seriously injuring the 35-year-old driver in the head. Her three children, ages 8, 10 and 12, were also in the woman’s car. A few hours after the crime, the police caught the suspect.

According to the police investigation, a suspected dark-clad perpetrator rode a bicycle towards the woman’s moving car. He then fired a shot, police said. The bullet smashed through the window on the driver’s side and severely injured the woman’s head. The woman underwent emergency surgery in a clinic.
