According to consistent media reports, the federal government is allowing the sale of 100 new 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. 30 Gepard tanks are also to be delivered to Kyiv.
According to a media report, the federal government has approved the sale of 100 self-propelled howitzers manufactured by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) to Ukraine. This is reported unanimously by “Der Spiegel” and ZDF.
Production is to start immediately
Ukraine asked in April whether the howitzers could be bought directly from the manufacturer. KMW then immediately submitted an offer. As a KMW spokesman told the “Spiegel”, the manufacturer submitted a corresponding application to the Ministry of Economic Affairs on July 11 and received approval two days later. The production of the weapon systems should now start immediately.
It is still unclear when the first howitzers will go to Ukraine. The production of all howitzers is likely to last for several years.
30 cheetah tanks
The government also gave the go-ahead for the delivery of 30 Gepard tanks. “I can tell you that the federal government has approved the export of 30 Gepard tanks. This export has started,” ZDF quoted a spokesman for KMW as saying.
