Delivery bottleneck – e-car manufacturer Nio suspends production – economy

The Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio has suspended production due to supply chain failures in the wake of the Corona crisis. Since March, several supply partners have interrupted their production one after the other “for reasons related to the epidemic”, for example in Jilin, Shanghai and Jiangsu, and still have to recover from it, the Tesla rival said. As a result, Nio also had to stop its production. The company announced that it would postpone vehicle deliveries. Together with the suppliers, efforts are being made to get production going again and at the same time to comply with the government’s corona requirements to contain the pandemic. China is trying to prevent the spread of the highly contagious omicron variant with sometimes strict lockdown orders. Tesla is also affected. The US group suspended production in Shanghai at the end of March after a lockdown had been ordered in the metropolis. The joint venture factory of Volkswagen and the FAW Group in Changchun has been closed since mid-March, the Wolfsburg-based factory with SAIC Motor in Shanghai since April 1st.
