Defense company – Thales is massively hiring – Economy

The French technology and armaments group Thales wants to hire even more staff this year than last year in view of the flourishing business. The plan is to hire 12,000 new employees, company boss Patrice Caine told the magazine Le Journal du Dimanche. For the past eight years, Thales has hired 5,000 to 8,000 workers annually, Caine said. In the past year, the number of new hires has already risen to 11,500. Thales employs a total of around 80,000 people, half of them in France. According to Caine, the company is growing in all sectors – from defense to aerospace to digital security. “The company is a reflection of its markets, all of which are experiencing dynamic growth,” said the manager. Since Russia’s attack on Ukraine a year ago, several states have announced increases in their defense budgets and are increasingly supplying arms to Ukraine. The share prices of armaments companies such as Thales in France or Rheinmetall in Germany have risen significantly since then. Caine announced that France would deliver radar systems to Ukraine in May.
