US Open ticket sales boosted by Serena’s retirement
Since Tuesday and the announcement in Vogue magazine of the imminent retirement of Serena Williams, ticket sales for the US Open (August 29 – September 11) have soared. According to StubHub, an American ticket sales and exchange company, “in 24 hours, sales were eight times higher than normal, sending a strong signal that many people want to witness this historic moment in person”. Serena Williams, 40, has won six of her 23 Grand Slam titles at Flushing Meadows.
