Dressing a sloping wall: what to think about?
Bedroom, office or playroom: to be pleasant to live in, the attic must be as airy and bright as possible. We therefore generally prefer light colors. We now prefer the color ecru, beige, pearl gray or a slightly taupe shade to white.
White works, however, when warmed up with wood, or a touch of color. The sloping wall is then most often the preferred choice, because it visually enlarges the room and sublimates the volumes of the attic.
If you opt for the total immaculate look, the ideal is to play with the materials and finishes: a simple trick that is enough to bring a little relief to the decor, thus preventing the room from being too impersonal.
Dressing a sloping wall: the most beautiful ideas
The easiest way to dress up a sloping wall is to opt for paint.
To avoid bad taste, bet on a safe bet: light gray, which creates an atmosphere of great softness, ideal for a bedroom in the attic. The combination of light gray and white creates a slight contrast, but enough to highlight the volumes of the attic.
If you benefit from a generous ceiling height, allow yourself a more sustained color. If you want to visually boost the volumes, accentuate the depth by painting only the under-slope wall. To create a cocoon effect, paint all the walls evenly.
Sublime, the cathedral ceiling! In the bedroom, however, it can be a little too daunting: to create a more cocooning space, we focus on the wall: here, we opted for the triangle mural, which skilfully redraws the volumes.
The use of a deep color in total look is more daring. This bias, however, allows this to create a cocooning effect that works particularly well in the bedroom. It is, however, a good idea to go for a cool color, as warm undertones can quickly create a stuffy feeling.
Using a dark color to dress the sloping wall, and why not? In this small attic apartment, the use of a deep color combined with the claustra makes it possible to isolate the bedroom area, and to make it more intimate. In addition, it helps to visually expand the room.
In this niche located under the slope, we use black with skill to erase the roughness by making the angle disappear, and we take the opportunity to materialize the space dedicated to the dressing room.
Patterns and materials
Does your recently renovated attic lack a bit of character, or do you simply want to adopt a specific decorative style? Bet on trendy coverings to dress the wall under the slope!
Very current, the wall of cleats! Here is the ideal coating to highlight the wall under slope and create a very warm atmosphere in the attic.
If you have beautiful volumes, dare to mix colors and materials, by combining paint and cleats. In a Nordic-inspired decoration, we put on a pastel color and a light wood species. For a more contemporary spirit, we fall for a mineral charcoal gray – here a very contemporary concrete effect paint.
The brick or natural stone effect wallpaper is a simple and easy way to implement to give character to attics that are a little too smooth. It is applied to the wall under slope for an even more authentic aesthetic.
A fan of Scandinavian decoration? Dress the sloping wall in wallpaper with a geometric pattern that will set the tone – which will gently sparkle the decor!
If you have opted for the sloping kitchen or bathroom, tiling is a very safe option for the wall. Skilfully chosen, it can also visually enlarge the room. In this small industrial-inspired bathroom, we opted for a vertical break, which seems to push the slope upwards.
Thanks to the combination of paneling and color, this bedroom in the attic has a particularly cocooning “cabin” effect. Decorated with colored frames, here is a wall under slope which acts as a headboard for two independent beds.
To determine how to dress the wall under slope, it is important to know what the desired effect is. Sometimes the best way to hit your shot is to put it in tune with the rest of the room. Betting on uniformity makes it possible to achieve a spectacular decoration. Wood is your best ally to succeed: just combine parquet and wall panels. For a contemporary minimalist aesthetic, preferably bet on a light wood species.
